FIELD HOCKEY PLAYER JILL BOLTON EARNS MAJOR AWARDS FOLLOWING SENIOR SEASON

While Liberty field hockey’s season is over, the awards don’t stop coming for senior Jill Bolton.

Following Liberty’s exhilarating run to the NCAA National Championship, Bolton earned some individual silverware.

Bolton was named NFHCA Division I National Player of the Year Dec. 16.

“The most prestigious award you can win in NCAA athletics is National Player of the Year,” Head Coach Parsley-Blocker said. “No one in school history has ever received this title, and I am beyond proud of Jill’s achievement. Jill’s skill set is second to none, and her ability to lead will give her a competitive advantage in whatever career path she chooses. The mark she left on this program is unmistakable and has set a new standard of excellence at Liberty.”

Bolton tallied 19 goals and seven assists, putting her at No. 8 in the nation in points per game (1.96). She also ended her career with 61 goals, the highest in program history.

After winning National Player of the Year, Bolton also earned the 2022 Honda Sport Award for field hockey, which denotes the best female athlete in 12 NCAA sports.

She also earned VaSID Player of the Year, making it back-to-back seasons in which the forward has won the award.

Bolton is now a finalist for the Collegiate Woman Athlete of the Year and the 2022 Honda Cup, which will be presented on the CBS Sports Network June 27 at 9 p.m.
