OPTIONS ABOUND IN LYNCHBURG FOR TACO LOVERS

For many Liberty University students, including sophomore Andrew Parent, Taco Tuesday is a beloved tradition.

“It’s one of my favorite [experiences] because I get to eat authentic tacos with my friends,” Parent said. “We sometimes enjoy singing and dancing to the music in the background.”

Lynchburg has plenty of places to get tacos and other delightful dishes. Thinking beyond the large chains like Taco Bell, there’s plenty of dine- in or take-out options for students.

Tacos Locos is a food-truck style restaurant located on Fort Ave. Diners can take their food to-go or eat at the tables in front of the building.

There are plenty of choices for proteins including al pastor, shrimp, fish and chicken. Tacos Locos also has different options, like quesadillas and a rotating daily special. With tacos starting as low as $2.50, they are a popular destination for many students.

Another location that serves great food is Delicia’s Latin Market & Carry Out, located on Leesville Road. Delicia’s is a market, but they also have a restaurant with a sitting area.

The most popular food at Delicia’s is the pupusas, a bread stuffed with meat and cheese. Derek Swarey, a Liberty junior, recommends the dish.

“When I first ordered the pupusas, I didn’t realize they were stuffed,” Swarey said. “When we tore them open, they smelled and tasted great.”

Taqueria Mexican Grill offers a sit-down dining experience. Located on Forest Road, the restaurant is not far from campus. Beyond just tacos, Taqueria has a full menu that can satisfy any appetite. However, the tacos are still an excellent and economic pick.

All three of these restaurants are no further than 20 minutes from Liberty’s campus via car. Whether it’s for a Taco Tuesday event, to celebrate an occasion or to take a break from the vendors on campus, these are excellent options that students are sure to enjoy.
